FIFA had threatened to suspend Nigeria from all international competitions if Nigeria Football Federation president , Amaju Pinnick and general secretary, Mohammed Sanusi were not given back the effective control of he NFF and its offices by 12 noon, Monday, August 20.

But an intervention by the federal government who sent a letter to FIFA on Monday morning to intimate the world soccer ruling body of their support for the Amaju Pinnick led executive of the Nigeria Football Federation prevented the ban.

FIFA in a statement issued on Monday stated that the
the suspension of the NFF will not take effect after Pinnick and Sanusi were given back effective control of the NFF and its offices.

“I was particularly delighted when I heard the news. To be honest, I was a bit worried with the whole issue but not anymore,” Shorunmu told CSN.

“I’m happy for the players in particular who could have been affected by the ban and the media too.

” Now, we can work on improving the game in the country and the league can restart as well.

“All the stakeholders must come together and work for the good of the game. We can’t gain anything from crisis and misunderstanding.”
