Ujah netted in the 76th minute to hand his side their first win of the season after joining the fray as a substitute for Jean Philippe Mateta ten minutes earlier.

It was Ujah’s first Bundesliga goal since May 2016. The 27 year old Nigeria international has now also scored six times in seven appearances against VfB, more than against any other side.

In the Scottish topflight, division, Ovie Ejaria scored his first league goal for Rangers who played out an enthralling 3-3 draw with Motherwell.

Ejiara’s Rangers trailed twice during the game thanks to goals from Danny Johnson and Carl McHugh but a double from Kyle Lafferty – a volley and a header – brought the visitors level.

The 19 year old Nigerian put Rangers 3-2 ahead at the end of a stunning counter attack before Peter Hartley’s 94th-minute goal for Motherwell denied Rangers maximum points.

His compatriot, Umar Sadiq was an unused substitute for Rangers in draw.

In the Turkish Super Lig, Emem Eduok opened his goal account of the season for Kasimpasa who spanked Sivasspor 3-0 on Sunday.

Semi Ajayi made his fifth appearance for his English Championship club, Rotherham United in their Sunday’s 1-0 win over Millwall.

Ajayi is one of the three new players invited to the Super Eagles squad for next month’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles.

In Italy, William Troost Ekong made his second start for Udinese who recorded a 1-0 home win over Sampdoria.

At the Artemio Franchi Stadium, Joel Obi came in for Perparim Hetemaj in Chievo Verona’s 4-0 defeat away to Fiorentina.

Ola Aina also came in for Ansaldi in Torino’s 2-2 draw with Inter Milan at the San Siro Stadium in an Italian Serie A clash. It was Aina’s second substitute appearance since joining on a season loan deal from Chelsea.

In France, Samuel Kalu missed a late penalty in his second Ligue 1 start for FC Girondins Bordeaux who edged AS Monaco 2-1. Elderson Echiejile was not included in Monaco’s match day squad for the game.

In Belgium, Taiwo Awoniyi came in for Roman Yaremchuk in the 67th minute in Gent’s 2-1 win over Lokeren.

Awoniyi has made six league appearances for Gent since joining the club in the summer from Liverpool.

His compatriot Anderson Esiti was not named in the match day squad.

In Switzerland, Blessing Eleke played for 90 minutes for FC Luzern who defeated St Gallen 1-0 away from home.

Stanley Amuzie was not part of Lugano’s matchday squad that played out a goalless draw 1 -1 with home side, FC Thun.
