Police bodycam footage shows moment father stabbed his 2-year-old daughter and her mother
An Arkansas man is accused of trying to stab his 2-year-old daughter and his estranged wife to death.
37-year-old Theodis Coleman and his estranged wife had a row over custody of his daughter and he threatened earlier that day to kill his estranged wife and her family if they try to gain custody of his daughter. The row got too intense when the child’s mother was retrieving her 2-year-old daughter from the girl’s father in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
The woman immediately called the police and as Jonesboro police were responding to the domestic dispute call, their bodycam footage captured the moment Theodis stabbed his daughter.
In the video, Theodis told his estranged wife who was carrying their 2-year-old daughter that she should not have called the police, then he pulled a steak knife and lunged toward his estranged wife and their child. One officer commands him to put the knife down and get on the ground.
“He just stabbed me,” the mother of the child can be heard saying as the suspect in the video is being handcuffed.
“My baby is f***ing bleeding,” the mother is heard saying above her child’s scream.
In the aftermath, the toddler is placed into the hands of a relative, who carries the child to an officer’s squad car. That officer quickly applies a tourniquet as blood from her right arm streams onto the hood of the patrol car.
When Emergency Services arrived on the scene, the child was flown to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis. Both mother and child are expected to make full recoveries.
The incident occurred on April 29 but police just released the bodycam footage.
Coleman is scheduled to make his first appearance in court on June 29.
