FA Cup: Tottenham vs Manchester United: Alan Shearer reveals why Mourinho played Alexis Sanchez
Ex-Premier League star, Alan Shearer has revealed why Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho featured forward, Alexis Sanchez in the Red Devils squad in Saturday’s FA Cup semi-finals clash against Tottenham at Wembley.
United came from a goal down to beat Spurs 2-1 to qualify for the finals of the competition with Sanchez, Ander Herrera scoring and Pogba delivering an authoritative display.
Shearer believes Sanchez impressive goal scoring record at Wembley was the reason Mourinho included him in United’s squad against Spurs.
“One of the reasons Mourinho played Sanchez was because of his record here at Wembley,” Shearer told BBC Sport.
“It’s a superb header.”
“It’s a tough one to get on target, let alone getting the pace behind it.
“But we said before the game, perhaps that was one of the reasons why Mourinho played Sanchez because of his record here at Wembley.
“He loves playing here,” he added.
Mourinho’s side return to action next Sunday as they welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford.
