Police Confirms The Death of a University of Benin Lecturer, Godwin Omofonwa
A gang of suspected robbers on Wednesday, January 24, reportedly murdered Godwin Omofonwa, a lecturer at the University of Benin. The robbers were said to have attacked Omofonwa in his home at the Ugbowo area of Benin city, Edo state capital.
Johnson Kokuko, Edo state commissioner of police, confirmed the incident at a press conference held in his office. He said that while some of the robbers managed to escape, policemen was able to gun down one of them, Channels Television reports.
Kokumo promised residents of Ugbowo that the police will make sure Omofonwa’s killers are arrested and arraigned. However, the commissioner appealed to the public to continue feeding the security agencies with useful and timely information so as to achieve the robbers’ arrest quickly.
