Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh Visits Vietman for Bilateral Talks
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh is on a bilateral visit to vietnam. The Minister’s visit to Vietnam is to enhance and promote investments in Nigeria’s Agro sector.
Cheif Ogbeh was received by Vuong Dinh Hue, Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister. Mr Vuong described Nigeria as a prioritized partner of his country’s investment in Africa and the Minister’s visit will serve a purpose of strengthening the bilateral trade between the two countries.
According to Ogbeh, he said the main aim of the visit was to increase cooperation between Nigeria and Vietnam in the Agro sector especially in the area of cashew Value chain development. Vietnam is one of the largest exporters of Agricultural products in the world. In 2005, 30 percent of Vietnam’s export was from Agricultural produce.
The purpose of the visit aims at increasing cooperation with Vietnam in Agriculture especially in the area of transfer of machinery and plant varieties; and Cashew value chain development in Nigeria.
During the visit, the Ogbeh was also recieved by his counterpart, who happens to be head the Agriculture Ministry and Vice President of National University of Agricluture, Vietnam. They both inspected some machineries at the University’s faculty of Agriculture Engineering in Hanoi.
Chief Ogbeh while visiting the Cashew processing plants said he will make sure of creating a replica in Nigeria to improve cashew farming and creating avenue for jobs and foreign exchange for Nigeria.
